Nitty Gritty Learning in the Heart of Durham City

Our course venues include Durham Cathedral and the Marriott County Hotel in Durham City, both within easy walking distance of Durham's railway station and park and ride bus stops. Lunches here are delicious and included in the course fee. Occasionally, the Nitty Gritty office in Weardale is the preferred location if CPD is being delivered to suit a specific school's needs.

Friday 20th May, 2011. Raising Achievement by Raising Self Esteem in the English Classroom. This course investigates the link between poor achievement and poor self esteem (often manifesting itself as anti-social behaviour.) Covering teaching and learning, as well as planning for compelling learning experiences, this course is an eye opener for experienced practitioners and newly appointed teachers alike. You will leave with ideas and resources which can be used as soon as you return to school. Friday 10th June, 2011: (Back Due to Popular Demand) Literacy Across The Curriculum. Creating, implementing and sustaining an effective whole school Literacy policy, which raises levels and grades across the school. Lots of practical ideas and inspiring strategies. All external courses cost £200 per delegate with a £20 discount for further delegates from the same school. Every 4 delegates from the same school may attend for just £500 in order to support departmental planning. Those schools with an existing long term partnership may send one delegate per course free of charge. Please be advised that cancellations less than ten days before the course is due to run will incur a £40 charge to cover venue costs.
